Opel joins
Formula E

From Season 2026/27 — with the Opel GSE 27FE

Opel GSE Formula E Team

New era, the highest level

of electric racing.

Yellow means go!

With faster cars, iconic locations and a thrilling race format, Formula E enters a new era. For Opel, it is the perfect moment to take GSE to the next level. In March 2026, Opel announced its entry into the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with its own factory team. Building on valuable experience gained in electric rallying, Opel is taking on one of the world’s most competitive challenges in electric motorsport. Not to make up the numbers. To win.

Jörg Schrott

“Formula E is one of the most fiercely contested championships in the world. Success only comes through teamwork and the right mindset.”

Opel GSE

powering the next level

Formula E is one of motorsport’s toughest technical challenges. Powertrain, battery, software and high-voltage systems must deliver maximum performance while managing every kilowatt-hour with absolute precision. Opel brings five years of electric race development to the task.

With the GEN4 platform raising the bar, GSE engineering turns regeneration, thermal management, wind tunnel testing and race-mode software into a competitive advantage — pushing electric performance forward, race after race.

Florian Huettl

“Formula E is the highest level of electric motorsport — and the next chapter for the Blitz.”

His career has been defined by pace, consistency and a rapid rise through the single-seater ranks. Now, he takes the next major step: his first full season in Formula E with Opel GSE. Pourchaire arrives with valuable experience from Formula E testing, endurance racing and Formula 1 simulator work. He is known for his ability to adapt quickly, work closely with engineers and extract performance from complex machinery. Formula E will present a new challenge — one that demands speed, intelligence and precise energy management. For Théo, it is an opportunity to learn, develop and make his mark on the world stage.
